Storybird - create visual short stories in a fun way!

Picture
Below you can see an example of how a collaborative short story created with storybird can look like.

Here you can see how to get started with storybird. The media tool is easy to use and to get a first impression of the website you can also just browse through the existing stories that have been published. This is only one of the opportunities that storybird offers its users: once you have created your own short story you can choose to publish it or just save it privately. You can also purchase a printed version of your story through the software or simply download it as a PDF file on your computer to read it again or to print it.
Storybird requires a registration but can be used for free. The website provides a range of different images and graphics which makes it easy to get an idea for a story if the students need an impulse to get started. ecause the images are provided they can either search for a suitable one for their story or they can just choose any one and use their imagination to match these images with a story. Students who are not too creative can simply describe what they see on the pictures to get started, for example. You can search by theme or artwork to begin with and once you found something that sparked you creativity you can get started with writing your own personal short story. Storybird offers templates and drag-and-drop graphics that are user-friendly and their use can be learned quickly. This is an effective method to improve the student's writing skills in a fun way.
Additionally, there can be more than one student who creates a story. They can work in pairs or groups and share the results with the others so they can add their ideas as well. So it can be used as an individual writing tool or a collaborative project where every student contributes a page to the story. You need a class account for this method which can be created by the teacher. Another possibility is the use of a story created with storybird to visually show the students a certain topic or issue.
To sum up, this is a very useful tool which should be used in the classroom more often and from whose introduction I definitely did benefit.
